Ambition continues to drive Fadlu Davids to greater heights in his coaching career.

The 41-year-old Capetonian, who started his latest stint as head coach of Maritzburg United in November, has enrolled for the UEFA Pro Licence course, the highest coaching qualification available.

Davids is due to depart for Northern Ireland right after the Team of Choice's last game of the season on 20 May against Mamelodi Sundowns.

"It's not easy to get into the Pro Licence course, because the former Premier League players, many of whom are now getting their coaching badges, get preference. Thankfully I've managed to get accepted, so this is a massive opportunity for me to empower myself as a coach," Davids says.

He spent the previous three seasons as assistant and then joint head coach at Orlando Pirates, and has always been a strong proponent of coaches keeping abreast of the latest developments and trends in the game.
