Do they leave the young forward where he is for the rest of the season, at a club where he is getting minutes, scoring goals and progressing rapidly?
Do they terminate his loan early and send him to a Championship club? Or do they throw him into first-team training at Villa and see if he’s got what it takes to be part of a Premier League squad?
For what it’s worth, I think he’s good enough - for the simple reason that I’ve seen far worse players get 30 or 40 games in the Premier League.
I first remember seeing Barry at St George’s Park with England’s youth groups, playing alongside the likes of Jude Bellingham and Cole Palmer. It was a frighteningly good team, but he was the standout player.
Then he got a big move to Barcelona, came back to Villa, went on a few loans and kind of fell off the radar.
