Stockton took the lead early in the second half through Glen Butterworth. But Ashton scored two quick-fire goals through Darius Osei and James Hardy to claim their first league victory since September 17.
Stockton were looking to extend their winning run to six league games and started brightly as Kev Hayes proved dangerous.
First he had a low ball just out by Jordan Eastham, and then had a dipped effort which dropped wide. Eastham then had to be sharp between the Ashton sticks to deny Michael Sweet from close range.
