The 43-year-old striker, who boasts an eclectic football CV, netted for Haringey Borough in their 5-1 win at Benfleet in the preliminary round last Saturday and is showing no signs of slowing down.
He returned for a second spell at the Isthmian North Division club this summer after previously playing in Scotland, France, Bulgaria and South Korea, as well as the likes of Northampton Town and Carlisle United.
However, he’s still a little way off the mark set by the legendary Sir Stanley, then with Stoke, and Manchester City’s Billy Meredith, who were 49 when they netted in the world’s oldest national football competition.
“Every record you can get is a good record!” Asamoah laughs after it’s put to him being the oldest scorer in the cup’s recent history is not a record he might want.
“The manager has said to the other players: ‘How is the 43-year-old doing more running than you? I want to keep going and I’m enjoying it as much as I ever have and want every record I can get.”
