TWO of the National League’s early promotion hopefuls were frustrated in a disappointing goalless draw in north Yorkshire.
York City have established themselves as title challengers in the early stages of the National League season, having enjoyed a run of eight clean sheets in their opening 12 matches, as well as embarking on an unbeaten run of seven matches.
Eastleigh too had gone unbeaten in their first five matches, but a slight drop off saw the Spitfires drop into the play-off positions.
York, who started the day in second, level on poibnts with Barnet at the top, almost snatched victory deep into stoppage time when substitute Lenell John-Lewis headed over.
Sixth-placed Eastleigh also fashioned good opportunities – Chris Maguire was denied by York goalkeeper Harrison Male and Paul McCallum shanked a good chance wide.
