The Tigers have yet to lose on their travels in the league but given their track record against Sale in Salford and the time of the year the fixture falls in, the feeling is this might be their toughest test yet.
George Ford was a Leicester player the last time the Midlands club won at the north-west outpost in May 2018, the England fly-half scoring 20 points against his current employers in a 35-13 victory. Since then, the Tigers have returned home with their tails between their legs, having lost six on the bounce and only scoring on average 13 points per game.
Leicester head coach Michael Cheika, below, is fully aware of the sort of challenge that awaits his team as they prepare for a block of games against extremely physical opponents with Champions Cup games against Bord e a u x - B e gles and another set of Sharks, the Durbanbased South African team, to come.
“It’s going to be tough, like all the away games, like all the home games to be honest. It’s a tough league and that’s how it should be. I’d like to think when teams come to us they think it is going to be hard, too,” said Cheika.
