With Apple expected to announce its new mixed-reality headset in the coming months, the rumor mill has gone into overdrive, with many speculating on how the new technology will transform the way we communicate, consume, and work forever. The future is coming.

THE REALITY-DISTORTION FIELD

Decades after the late Apple Founder Steve Jobs coined the "reality distortion field" mindset, Apple looks set to bring his ultimate vision to life. Jobs was able to convince others of his desired version of reality through his charisma and strong will. The phrase dates back to when Jobs invented the first Macintosh computer he discovered this power during a trip to an apple orchard with Robert Friedland, allowing him to reshape his perception of reality and achieve his goals. The reality distortion field works by shaping one's perception of themselves and exhibiting that perception to the world, leading others to be convinced of it. It is possible to create a reality distortion field by accepting the importance of perception and using one's thoughts to shape reality. This can be achieved by recognizing that the perception of events is more important than the events themselves and believing that positive reviews can overpower external reality. Fast-forward to 2023, Apple could be on the verge of reutilizing Jobs' vision and ideas into a new product range: AR/VR.
