HOLIDAYS CAN SOMETIMES feel like very high-pressure situations. Exploring a new destination often involves checking off endless must-dos and must-sees, and relaxation tends to take a back seat. Raffles Udaipur, contrary to the usual rush of travel, turned out to be a rare escape, inviting me to forget all about checklists and slow down while losing myself in the history and nature it so generously offers.
As soon as I arrived at Raffles Udaipur, I was taken by the picturesque sight before me-perched on the shores of Lake Udai Sagar against the stunning backdrop of the Aravalli hills, the resort pays homage to traditional Rajasthani architecture with elements of minimalist modern design and local craftsmanship. Despite the extravagance, the luxurious feel comes from how seamlessly the open spaces flow, the attention to detail, and the lack of ostentatious displays. If quiet luxury had an address, Raffles Udaipur would be it.
Reluctant to part ways with the beauty around me, I dragged myself to my room where I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted with panoramic views of the Udai Sagar Lake from my private balcony. As I breathed in the fresh air, the gentle lapping of the lake, the chittering of the birds and the wind humming as it made its way from the Aravallis convinced me that I might never want to leave.
My butler, who acted as my personal host for the duration of my trip, was kind enough to remind me that the charm of Raffles Udaipur is not only in its scenic beauty and architecture, but also the carefully curated experiences it offers which allow guests to forge a connection with the history and culture of the city.
