Grilled burgers, steaks, smoked short ribs…beef is a summer staple. And enjoying four 6-oz. servings weekly helps you effortlessly eat 500 fewer calories each day (and shed up to 11 pounds this summer), say University of Washington investigators. They explain that when amino acids in beef reach the stomach, they prompt the release of three hunger-killing hormones, known as cholecystokinin, GLP-1 and peptide YY.
