It's been dubbed "Operation Bring Harry In From The Cold". Several old friends of Prince Harry are astonished that the US-based royal has contacted them after years of no communication and it has prompted them to launch a plan to reunite him with his family.
But the pals could have their work cut out for them, as Harry's rift with his brother Prince William seems deeper than ever.
The pair both attended a memorial service for their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, who died in July, but despite being in the same room for the first time since their father the King's coronation in 2023, they didn't speak.
At one stage, William, 42, and Harry who made a surprise appearance at the service after a spokesperson had said he wouldn't be there stood virtually back-to-back at the wake for Lord Fellowes, who was married to their mother's sister Lady Jane Fellowes, 67. But there was no interaction between them, says one witness. They also sat on opposite sides of the Norfolk church and left the event separately.
However, royal sources say the fact that Harry, 39, made the trip from California for the event could mean he's prepared to try to improve his fractured relationships with his brother and father. That's given his friends confidence that they may be able to help smooth his path.
