STATEMENT PIECE
Perhaps her most iconic fashion choice, Diana's so-called 'revenge dress' is still talked about today. The black cocktail frock was commissioned from Christina Stambolian three years prior but was considered too daring at the time. Instead, Diana chose to wear it on the day Charles made his admission of adultery in a tell-all TV interview. Visiting the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens, Diana shunned royal dress code protocol by showcasing her legs, cleavage, and shoulders. With a bold pearl choker featuring sapphire and diamonds, the ensemble signified a turning point for the newly single Diana.
She claimed that her wardrobe before she met Prince Charles consisted of 'one long dress, one silk shirt, one smart pair of shoes, and that was it', but Diana was to become the woman whose style we all wanted to steal. Bridging the gap between the fashion of the day and royal protocol, which was your favourite?
