WHY GO?
Set on the shores of Lake Michigan, Chicago is chock-full of surprises. Take its Windy City nickname – nothing to do with the weather, all about politicians of yesteryear blowing hot air! Celebrated for its bold and beautiful buildings, worldclass museums, buzzing food scene and 26 miles of sandy beaches and riverside walks, it’s also the star of many cult and classic films. Take Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Home Alone and The Blues Brothers to name a few.
While many head straight for the city’s downtown area to explore high-end shops in the Magnificent Mile or walk along the tree-lined streets of glamorous Gold Coast, there are 77 neighbourhoods to explore – each with their own character. Chicago really does have it all, and with its friendly people and laid-back vibe, it’s no wonder Frank Sinatra called it his ‘kind of town’.
