There's nothing like getting out and about to blow away the cobwebs, and in a new BBC2 Northumberland-born series, actor Robson Green shows us how the great outdoors can relieve stress, benefit mental health and boost our wellbeing.
The 15-part series will follow Robson on home turf as he visits the places where he likes to relax and recharge.
'Getting away from it all is e good for the mind, body and soul,' says Robson, 58. 'When I immerse myself in the region's countryside, I feel everything is right in the world. I'm excited to showcase the best it has to offer.' Along the way, he'll be joined by famous friends including TV
presenter Steph McGovern, Dragons' Den star Sara Davies and former footballer Jill Scott. In the first episode, Robson visits the pretty seaside villages of Bamburgh and Seahouses. After cycling along the coast and spending the night glamping, Robson meets former Newcastle United player Les Ferdinand to try paddleboarding in Beadnell Bay, a hotspot for surfers, sailors and divers.
'IT'S A LOVELY PART OF THE WORLD'
'The Northumbrian coast is my most favourite place,' says Robson. 'There are almost 40 miles of outstanding natural beauty, so it really is a lovely part of the world. You'll love it!' Robson Green's Weekend Escapes is on BBC2
