A regular on our screens, both on Loose Women and ITV News, Charlene White is very much a familiar and friendly face. And when Woman’s Own sat down with her to discuss her new book, No Place Like Home, her warm nature instantly made us feel as if we’d been friends for years.
Here, the star, 44, fills us in on what it’s like juggling the news and Loose Women, supporting Ruth Langsford through her break-up, and her career goals.
Hi Charlene, how’s life on Loose Women?
Oh, it’s brilliant! I get to work with women across so many different demographics, we’re such an array of different ages, with different life experiences, and I have learnt so much being on the show. Because my mum isn’t around, it’s also nice to regularly be around older women and get advice. There isn’t a single problem going on in any of our lives that one of them doesn’t have the answer to, and that’s wonderful.
Who are you closest to on the show?
Judi [Love] – we live near each other and do Celebrity Gogglebox together, so obviously we’re quite close. Brenda [Edwards], I’m close with. Linda [Robson] is just a world of experience and there’s nothing that woman hasn’t done, career-wise or life-wise. But the list is endless. Jane [Moore] is brilliant and one of the cleverest women I’ve ever met. I could mention them all!

'THAT'S NOT MY BABY'
Lying in the hospital bed, my husband Michael had tears of happiness in his eyes as he showed me a photo on his phone. 'Here she is,' he said proudly. 'There must be a mistake.'It was August 2010 and I'd not long before had an emergency caesarean. I'd not had a chance to see Winnie when she arrived as she'd been whisked away for tests because she was nearly two months premature.
