Bit of a shocker we even need to talk about this in 2024 – but the short answer is no, isn’t it? may have burnt our bras in the 0s, but that spark, which was supposed to set a bonfire to ine uality, turned out to be a bit of a damp s uib. Reminded of this when some dinosaur politician remarked that a woman with kids would be more ‘distracted’ at work than a man with a young family.
This got everyone’s knickers in a twist but, sorry, he has a point. And the statistics back him up.
When it comes to the care of children under five, women do 78% more than men per day. We also do 65% of the physical household work (such as cleaning and cooking), in all carrying out 60% more unpaid work than men.
