Dr Mohan's advocacy for women's inclusivity in medicine is as inspiring as her groundbreaking contributions. Here's a sneak peek into her insightful interview with Woman's Era.
Could you tell us what drove your specialization in pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology, leading to pioneering work in pediatric liver transplantation in India?
My journey into pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology was driven by a deep desire to make a meaningful impact in children's healthcare in India. The high mortality rates due to liver diseases and the glaring absence of pediatric liver transplantation services in our country were my primary motivators. Inspired by my father's encouragement to contribute significantly to our nation, I felt a strong urge to pursue this path. When the opportunity to pioneer pediatric liver transplantation in India presented itself, it felt like a calling I had to answer. It was a new and challenging frontier, but I was determined to make a difference.
