I started my career three decades ago and the last date of every month ended with this - Appa today salary is credited into account.
It had been drilled down strongly in me since childhood, 'Only a man takes care of money'.
So in accordance with it, it was my Appa before marriage and after that my husband Kumar, "Salary has been credited!"
Who worries what happened to the salary - where was the time!
From 4 am morning to 12 midnight, life was a routine. Cooking, waking up daughter, pack her off to school, pack breakfast and lunch rush to board an 8:45 am Mumbai local which would be so crowded as if we were stuck together with Fevikwik!
As soon as the clock struck 6, rush you out of the o ce like a hurricane to catch the 6:20 fast local. Catch the train running and hang onto the rod like Shahrukh Khan in DDLJ as it is too crowded to get in.
And just as you got in, you jump out of the moving train and land on the platform like Superwoman!!!
When you get home, there’s no time to even say a proper ‘Hi’ to your daughter. Just a quick hug, a ‘love you’ and dash into kitchen to make dinner which is followed by study time with daughter.
Can you think when I had a moment to think of money!
Years passed with some ups and downs – that is Life.
