The morning was almost over as Rose Weinstein sat on her couch trying to muster the energy to get up and start her day. The Indianapolis grandmother had hours of errands ahead of her, but as the clock ticked on, she just couldn’t get herself up and going. What is happening to me? she wondered.
Tiredness had never been a problem for Rose, who had always been a good sleeper and always had more than enough energy to juggle working, time with her family, maintaining an active social life and even volunteering at her local food pantry. But about a decade ago, Rose suddenly found herself dragging through her days, despite consistently getting a good night’s sleep.
Having entered her 60s at the time, she first figured it was a normal aspect of aging. It saddened her to think she would have to slow down or even give up doing some of the things she loved. But then, beginning in 2016, Rose’s annual blood work began to indicate various health issues, and she began to wonder if maybe there was more to her fatigue than she’d originally thought.
