A hush cut volumizes hair
“The long, almost grown-out looking layers and bangs of a hush cut create a soft, wispy and tousled look that’s full of volumizing texture and movement,” says hairstylist Carrie Butterworth, who has worked with Sigourney Weaver and Mena Suvari.
■ GET THE LOOK: Ask your stylist for long, face-framing layers throughout and long, wispy curtain bangs. To style, work a dollop of volumizing mousse (like Kristin Ess Instant Lift Volumizing Mousse, Target.com) through damp hair, then blow-dry while using a medium round brush to flip hair in toward the ends.
Glossy espresso color boosts luster
“Adding some spice and shine to brunette tresses is simple with the glossy espresso hair color trend,” says colorist Rick Wellman, who’s worked with Tina Fey and Brooke Shields. He says that darker hair colors, like this espresso-inspired hue, reflect more light to increase luster for a healthy-looking head of hair.
