While you were still taking in summer drinks and mellow smokes, we were toiling with cask-finished Scotch, walking the streets of the Windy City, hitting the links of the Great Northwest and dodging Gila Monsters. Okay, we enjoy our work and hopefully, it shows. So this new issue features some fine tasting whiskies, paired with the right cigar, a travelogue out of Chicago with a True Crime tilt and plenty of smoking tips, a golf travel saga full of adventure out of Inland Northwest, and a photo shoot from Arizona. We greet the new season with big shots of cigar fun in our new issue. Joe Pistone was an FBI agent who became Donnie Brasco to infiltrate organized crime, wrote books and most famously, became the main character in a Hollywood blockbuster. Inevitably, he likes a good cigar. Boxer Robeisy Ramírez came out of Cuba, captured the world featherweight title and now tells his story of leaving Cuba and how cigars are integral to his planning sessions. A history lesson on cask finished Scotch also gives you some ideas on which cigars to match with which spirits. Mob informants, brown liquor and boxing champs. Bring on summer.

For this issue, we crossed the Atlantic, traveled to tropical islands and spent some treasured time with a real cigar pro to get his worldly story, all for you. And we can't think of a better reason. The second issue of 2023 takes you places. Welcome to the summer issue. May/June is timed to when the days get long and warm and all things outdoors make sense. So we hit up the first Drew Estate Barn Smoker of the year at a tobacco farm outside of Orlando, Florida. From there we take you to New Orleans for a taste of cigars, golf and food in and around this fabled city’s French Quarter. You’ll also get a very readable lesson in Irish whiskey, complete with some help in pairing with the best cigar, and some tips for reasonably priced smokes in these inflationary times. Our photo shoot has a Black Swan theme, and finally, we have events and more events. Time to sit back and unwind, summertime.

Our March/April issue is all about tropical island warmth. We head to the Caribbean for a double-barreled photo shoot, one set on white-sanded beaches and another in the cozy coves and lagoons of the islands. The visuals are accompanied by a travel narrative that sets the pace for any visit to Curacao, a spot that packs plenty to do on its 170 square miles. We also visit with Richard Seale, whose Foursquare rum distillery on the island of Barbados is a destination for those with a taste for the real deal. Back to the mainland, we break down the latest report from the feds on premium cigar regulation, and it’s encouraging. Events keep picking up, and among the photos of people smoking and getting out, we provide a full account of this year’s ProCigar Festival in the DR. We give you rum, beaches, smokes and more.
