Volvo Trucks is now introducing Euro 6-compliant heavy-duty trucks running on liquefied natural gas (LNG) or biogas which, it said, have the same performance, drivability and fuel consumption as its diesel-powered models.
The Swedish manufacturer reckoned its new trucks’ CO2 emissions are 20–100 percent lower compared with diesel, depending on choice of fuel. FH LNG and FM LNG are available with 420 or 460 bhp for heavy regional and long-haul ops.
“With our new trucks running on liquefied natural gas or biogas, we can offer an alternative with low climate impact that also meets high demands on performance, fuel efficiency and operating range,” said Lars Mårtensson, director environment and innovation at Volvo Trucks.
“This is a combination our customers in regional and long haulage require.”
