India is all set to achieve new heights in the international realm of food industry with World Food India (WFI) 2017, scheduled to be held from November 3-5, 2017, in the Indian capital, New Delhi. The three-day event will see 2,000-plus participants and 400-plus exhibitors. In total, eight seminars have been organised to make this event a productive interaction between the domestic and the international market of more than 20 countries.

The Ministry of Food Processing, Government of India, is organising the event, and has invited Denmark, Germany and Japan, to come on board as partner countries, and Italy and Netherlands, as focus countries.

Opportunities for exhibitors

The event will provide several opportunities for exhibitors to improve and promote their business and in turn benefit the Indian economy. India will use this opportunity, to showcase its growing resource base, progressive policies and food processing sector, which will help them to connect and collaborate with global industry leaders, policy-makers and other knowledge bodies. The event is expected to facilitate a rise in investment, promote farmer linkages and increase trading opportunities.

“We have a USD 6 billion retail sector out of which 70 pc is food... When you go anywhere in the world, no one can afford to ignore the food sector in India and in all countries I visited, there was an immense interest either for food importing nations to source from India or for people wanting to expand their food business. So we decided why not give them a platform because there was a lot of interest in entering India through joint ventures with local partners,” said Harsimrat Kaur Badal, union minister of food processing in India
