COMMITTED TO DECARBONISE STEELMAKING

STEEL IS ONE OF THE CORE PILLARS OF today's society, and as one of the most critical engineering and construction materials, it is present in many aspects of our lives. The world produces a lot of steel - over 240 kilos for every person in the world every year. We pretty much can't do anything that does not somehow require steel, which is strong, durable, flexible, reusable, and the most easily recycled material.

With India setting the target of achieving netzero emissions by 2070, steel production which is a CO2 and energy-intensive activity needs to evolve to become smarter and more sustainable in order to remain committed to mitigating its footprint from ecological and economic perspectives.

As the leading steel manufacturer, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/ NS India) has already begun taking the right steps, striking a balance between ambitious business goals and unwavering dedication toward sustainability. The company has already mitigated its CO2 emissions per ton by 37% since 2015, reinforcing its commitment to a green economy. At the same time, it continues to lay strong emphasis on human care through adherence to the highest Health and Safety standards at the workplaces, and community-centric initiatives across the country.

The company's onus on research and development ensures that they are at the forefront of the evolution of the steelmaking process and products – supported by parent companies ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, the two global steel giants that are leading the way to decarbonise steel.
