Presentation is the key function in any business meeting today. In any business deal managers or companies have to make a presentation about their plan. E.g.-: Marketing Manger has to show his plan of campaign or advertising through the presentation. If the presentation is good, then audience is impressed and the company gets good deals. Even in management schools students have presentations every day, to make them ready for the professional world. B-schools also prepare students for presentations and they also have a subject called personality development in which they learn skills of management.
Preparing the Presentation
Good planning gives good results. Great presentations require some preplanning. First, learn about the subject of the meeting for preparing an outline and conducting it, such as inquiring about the presentation room, informing participants, etc. A presentation follows the same basic guidelines as preparing for a meeting. Next step is to prepare the presentation. A good presentation starts with a great introduction and an icebreaker such as a story, interesting statement or a fact, joke, quotation, or an activity to get the group warmed up. The introduction also needs an objective, that is, the purpose or goal of the presentation. This not only tells you what you will talk about, but it also gives an idea and the purpose of the presentation to the audience. After that, comes the main body of the presentation. Do not write it word for word. Make an outline or handouts. By jotting down the main points on a set of index cards, you not only have your outline, but also a memory jogger for the actual presentation. To prepare the presentation, ask yourself the following:
-
What is the purpose of the presentation?
-
Who will be attending?
