“I'm Too Sexy for My Selfie” Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt

Remember that lovely, lovely Right Said Fred song from the 1990s, which had two bald as eggs brothers, tunelessly singing, “I’m too sexy for your party...?” That amusing track can be modified for this me-obsessed generation with catchier lyrics that go, “I’m too sexy for my selfie... tooooo sexy by faaaar.”

Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt, our cover stars, are to the selfie born – they could easily shoot such a video in their deep sleep. I can imagine them pouting and preening as the selfie stick revolves above their bed heads, catching every practised flicker of fluttering eyelashes, every flaring of nostrils, and every detail of the contoured, bronzed cheekbone. I just love that about these two social media superstars – they have cracked the system and emerged triumphant. They jump out from the clutter by just being themselves. Karan Johar has six million followers on Twitter, 2.9 million on Instagram. Alia, reigns as the Princess who gets the most staggering number of ‘Likes’ each time she posts a work-out video. She has a staggering 12.6 million Instagram followers and 10 million on Twitter. Both avoid Snapchat. Both are super savvy when it comes to leveraging their respective brands and unique positioning.
