The Western Ghats Mountain ranges of India begin in Gujarat in the North-West and run over 1,600 km to the south of India.

The Western Ghats is rich in flora and fauna and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Anamalai range at 2,695m is the highest peak of the Western Ghats. It lies in the borders of Kerala and Tamilnadu.

Once upon a time, the forest was loaded with Rosewood and Teakwood trees. Between 1800 and 1900, the British chopped down the trees and shipped them to the shipyard in Bombay to build ships for the British Royal Navy.
