Ruminating On Whether Clothes Make A Person Or Not
An old adage goes – “Clothes make a man.” In these days, when clothes for some of us mean everything there is in life, does it mean that if clothes make a man, what about the woman? Naturally, when one says “man,” the implication is “person.” It is a unisexual kind of meaning. It stands for all of us. At least this is what most people understand of this one quote.
Thus, the corrected version is that clothes make a man or woman. Herein is the truth of these times. We live in such an era where the external airs and fancies of a person really, really stand for the person himself or herself. What we adorn, what we wear, how we speak, how we behave all sum up to stand for what we are. Very few would bother or have time to see the person as he or she exists inside of him or her. It is the trappings outside which reflect the life within. At least this is the common stance for most of humanity. After all, how many would actually sift through the layers which we hide ourselves in and actually check out the person for his or her values and beliefs? - Very few of us – probably only those who really are interested since they belong to our inner circle of kith and kin. Other than them, not too many would step out of their comfort zones to unlock the secrets held inside a third person.
Clothes reflect our real persona
Clothes, per se, are taken as a measure of the reflection of a person. They are not taken as grandeur any more. If you are well-versed person, one who has the cream and polish necessary to survive in the world of today, you will make it a point to be well turned-out. You will take the effort to come out as a mature and well-groomed personality. And we all know that personal grooming is of a lot of importance in the world these days. It is what counts in front of others to show to them where you come from and what you bring with you.
