Should we not open our hearts as well as our doors to it?
The seventieth Independence Day of India has come knocking on our doors. Are we ready to greet it? The promise our leaders made to us, the ones which we made back to them – are they fulfilling them? Have we, as a responsible people, fulfilled ours? These and a thousand and one other questions have come calling. Now is the time each year to sit back and truly go over the previous year – to adjudge where India as a nation has reached - Where it is portended to reach in the next one year - And the works.
It is not just the speech of the Prime Minister of the country made from the ramparts of the Red Fort made in the early morning hours of the 15th of August each year. It is the message that each and every Indian has imprinted on our hearts and souls about what we do for our country. What we do as law-abiding citizens of the nation. Each and every little message from each and every Indian is important. This is the true essence of the Independence Day celebrations. Of course, the festivities begin much before the PM speaks. They, in fact, go on right through the year. The talk, actually speaking, is just the stamp of approval or of disapproval of what we have done and what we are doing.
India was, is, and will always be one…….
