Diwali is one of the most important and popular Hindu festivals. It is the festival of lights and joy, celebrated with all exclusive traditional values. Diwali festivals are marked by vibrant colors and these themes are illuminated with dazzling lights all over.
Diwali, also known as the “Festival of Lights,” is a five-day festival which celebrates the triumph of good over evil and hope for all mankind. Originating in India, Diwali, which is known as Deepavali in the southernmost part of the country, is a time for fireworks, the lighting of lamps and strengthening the bonds of family and friends. First ritual bath is taken a day before Diwali in the evening. It is the indication that festival has begun and this ritual bath is necessary before wearing new clothes. First, puja is performed with flowers, perfumes and diyas, followed by Prayers and meditation.
Dhan Teras The first day of the Diwali celebration which is also known as Dhan Teras, it is an auspicious time known for shopping. People buy as much gold as possible for this day is considered lucky for purchasing gold. Crackers for fireworks, diyas for illuminating homes are also bought in good spirit. Men, women and children wear new clothes as part of tradition. Diwali is a 5 day celebration. So, go for it with the best of dresses.
