Akshay Kumar is a no-nonsense man. Reticent and hesitant, you hardly get him talking unless he’s totally on the go. But when he’s in his spirits, he can be the funniest to talk to. You ask him anything and he has an answer to everything. Almost everything. Akshay talks to us over simmering cup of coffee.
Since the start of your career, you always had your favourite set of directors. Now you are working with Vipulji and Neeraj Pandey. So how do you bond with the directors?
We bond because the directors are making the kind of films I want to work in. That is what has happened, I did ‘Waqt’, ‘Namastey London’, ‘Singh Is King’, ‘Aakhen’, ‘Action Replay’ and ‘Holiday’ with Vipul and same with Neeraj.
Do you have a cameo in ‘Hera Pheri 3’?
Nope I am not there in ‘Hera Pheri 3’. I will miss the film but unfortunately, I am not going to do it.
Is there any animosity among you and John?
No, not at all. In fact, I just spoke to John and I always knew that he was replacing me in ‘Welcome Back’ and ‘Hera Pheri 3’. I was never a part of ‘Hera Pheri 3’ nor do I have dates to do it.
How do you manage to balance in between different genres?
I love it. Sometimes you have to do commercial films which attract the single screen audiences. Sometimes you have to do the so called satellite friendly films because a big chunk of money comes from there. So it happens.
