It ’s long-lasting, look s flawless and flatters every face: just three rea son s why matt-finish make-up is set to become your go-to
InStyle: Matt make-up is traditionally seen as a winter beauty look. How can you make it work for spring/summer?
VICTORIA BARON: I think the idea of matt make-up for winter is really restricting and dated. The beauty of [the] texture is that it absorbs light rather than reflecting it. Pairing a matt [finish] with an opposing one, such as a gloss or metallic, results in both being amplified and enhanced, more so than on their own. Summer skin partnered with matt lips, or a metallic eye complemented by a matt skin finish are far from being constrained to a winter look. Make-up is about exploration and expression and having fun with colour and texture.
Talk us through the upcoming trends in lip colour for the warmer weather...
[Statement] lips are forever on trend, but l feel like the direction for spring/summer will be about considered textures and shapes.
