When mum-of-two Eunice Gee, 50 decided to lose weight she bought her dream dress and became determined to walk her way into it…
Looking down at my flat tum as I head out for my one-hour evening walk, I can’t believe how far I’ve come. I feel healthy and full of energy, but three years ago I was overweight and spent more time munching than moving. I had a loft full of clothes I couldn’t fit into and my confidence was low. But that all changed when I signed up to the MoonWalk in october 2014.
I’d always been chubby. At school I hated sports, as no one wanted me on their team, and at home my mum served hearty portions. Aged 21, I had my first child, Martin, now 29. At his six-month check-up the doctor remarked I should have lost my baby weight. I felt angry and humiliated. ‘How dare she judge me,’ I thought. ‘She doesn’t know how busy I am.’ But she was right.
With a new baby, going back to work part-time as a civil servant and with little support from my then husband, my health took a back seat. I had a sedentary job and ate anything that was quick and easy. By the time I fell pregnant with my daughter Katherine, now 26, I was 12st.
