Actress, adventurer, athlete, and goodwill ambassador Hlubi Mboya Arnold has done it all. From stepping on the competitive stage, climbing Kilimanjaro and finishing the Absa Cape Epic, to juggling a hectic career in the cut-throat TV and film industries, she still finds the time to pursue her passion for social entrepreneurship and community upliftment. It’s the type of life that epitomises what it means to be a #strongwoman
It means resilience. Passion. Having a purpose that is bigger than one’s self. It requires self belief and confidence, even if you fail. That’s because women who accept failure and face challenges head on, create opportunities to move on to the next level and ultimately create success. And having a mindset of never giving up is critical to success. We have to create and maintain networks of these strong women to have mentors to guide us, because no one can succeed without support from other women.
Take us through a day in the life of Hlubi Mboya Arnold.
There is no typical day for me. I’m a busybody: an activist, actress, an athlete, a social entrepreneur, an educator, and a scholar. You try to fit that all into one day! But, 24 hours for me is the same 24 hours for everybody else, so I do what I can. No two days are the same and no two hours are the same. It’s a crazy mess, but I love it. That does mean that I train when I can, where I can. I therefore have many trainers and access to many gyms. I use those that are most convenient to me when I have some spare time in the day.
