Managing Rising Acidity
Fitness Magazine|September - October 2108

I’ve been told that my diet, which is high in animal proteins like red meat, eggs and dairy, as well as many of the carb sources I eat, are causing my acidity levels to rise.

Managing Rising Acidity

Q Apparently an overly acidic body can negatively impact my performance, stunt my recovery and lower my immunity, and even cause serious diseases such as cancer. How can I lower my acidity levels while still adding muscle? Brenda

Advocates of an alkaline diet promote a diet heavy in fruits and vegetables, and light on meat, dairy, sugar and grains, which is not always practical for someone such as yourself, who is looking to add more muscle.

It’s important to remember that it is the ratio of acid and alkaline minerals in our body, not the ratio of acid and alkaline minerals in our food that ultimately determines our level of acidity.

While it’s still vitally important to understand how your body reacts to what you put into your mouth, when it comes to acid-alkaline balance it isn’t all about what we’re eating. It’s about how well our body is working with the minerals it already has in it.
