What led you to your health and fitness focused lifestyle?
My parents were always very active when I was growing up. They both lived a healthy lifestyle, which meant I was raised on clean nutrient-dense foods. Living in Colorado also meant we were always outside being active! And when we weren't I was in the gym day-care centre while my mom taught aerobics class and my dad worked out, at least until I was old enough to train. I started lifting weights when I was 14 years old and, over time, it has become a part of who I am. When I'm in the gym, it's just me, my music and the weights. It's a completely stress-free “me” environment and I don’t know where I would be without it!
What was it that first attracted you to the competitive stage?
When I was a 16-year-old junior in high school, my parents decided to start competing in bodybuilding – my mom was a figure athlete and my dad competed as a bodybuilder. Watching them go through that process and seeing them becoming mentally and physically stronger every single day really sparked my interest. The moment I saw them on that stage, it lit a fire in me. I knew that one day I too would take to the stage. I have now been competing for three years and I received my IFBB Bikini Pro card last year!
