A systematic review conducted in 2019, confirmed that Pilates improves lung volumes, flow rates, and respiratory endurance. A significant improvement in Maximum Inspiratory pressure (MIP) & Maximum Expiratory Pressure (MEP) post pilates training was observed.

Pilates practice involves Lateral & active breathing. Pilates breathing won’t only keep your lungs healthy, but it will also make the actual movement easier as it helps to activate certain muscles during the movement.
