DYNAMIC DUO

MIRRORLESS CAMERAS clearly stole thunder from traditional DLSR cameras. A PetaPixel report revealed mirrorless cameras boomed at the tail-end of 2020 - a 93.6 per cent growth in global sales and it clinched an impressive 111.9 per cent in revenue basis. The boom and hype are due in part to success stories from Canon’s line-up of EOS R5/R6 and Sony’s stellar a7S III model.

Now the Alice Camera is geared to make a paradigm shift in the photography equipment arena. Integrated into this device is a Micro Four Thirds component that attaches itself to your current smartphone, thereby, making this an “AI Camera”. Shipped and marketed by Indiegogo project (at the time of writing, it is 387 percent funded and counting), it is set to land in the hands of customers by October 2021. Touted to give the end-user the “experience of a phone bolstered by the quality of a DSLR”, it is to become “the camera of the future”. Using this hyperbole to market this new-fangled device may sound like a lofty idea, but off the bat, the makers claim they use computational photography startup Photogram AI targeted for content creators.
