He is known across the world as a ‘Vastu yogi’ but Dr. Ramesh Kamath (68) wears many other hats too. He is a qualified engineer with two small industries, a magician, a hypnotist, a yoga consultant, writer, filmmaker who has made very successful meaningful films, a superb musician, and much more. He recently came to Mumbai from Bangalore to screen his latest children’s film, ‘Apsara Dhara’. Produced and directed by him, he has also acted in it. This film has received recognition from various international film festivals. It was screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival on children’s Day, November 14, 2019. On January 2, 2020, the film won an outstanding Achievement Award and Best Director Award at the Singapore World Film Festival.
It has been selected for the International children’s Film Festival in Bangladesh to be held at Dhaka in March this year. ‘Apsara Dhara’ was shot partly in Egypt in front of the pyramids and the sphinx at Cairo with some of the scenes put together using 3D technology. Most parts of the film were shot in the dense forests of Sirsi using a drone. Sirsi is a tourist destination and the largest city and main commercial centre and business hub in Uttara Kannada district. The city is surrounded by forest, and the region has a number of waterfalls. The film was screened at the DMoFF International Film Festival in Florida, US in December 2019. It won an award as the Best children’s Experimental Film at L’Age d’or International Arthouse Film Festival (LIAFF) in December 2019.
