Just based on that information, you would have to imagine that the Dolphins have two solid starters and great depth behind those starters. The only issue with this is that Miami’s four offensive tackles they need to trust have not done enough for the team and fans to trust them.
Let’s start with starting left tackle Austin Jackson. The former USC product was selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Since then, Jackson has been described as a player who has the potential to be special but will need time to progress. The only issue is that his progression has been hard to watch, and at times, it seems as he may never progress into the left tackle Miami thought they were getting.
Jackson did not start Week 1 after sitting out days before the game with COVID-19. Before Week 1, though, Jackson had been beaten consistently in the preseason. Jackson had become a major concern for Miami and its fans. Jackson was regularly beaten by edge defenders and almost got starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa seriously injured when he was blown back into the legs of Miami’s quarterback.
