Deiter hoping to deliver at center
Dolphin Digest|August 30, 2021
The center position was one of the most significant question marks for the Miami Dolphins heading into the 2021 season. After losing 2020 starting center Tedd Karras to the New England Patriots in free agency, Miami needed to find someone to replace his 16 starts.

Deiter hoping to deliver at center

Or so people thought.

Miami signed former Baltimore Ravens center Matt Skura, and while many fans and media members felt that Skura would be the eventual starter, it seems Miami has had another plan in place already.

Through the first few weeks of training camp, 2019 third-round pick Michael Deiter was getting the first-team reps at center. Deiter started 15 games in his rookie season at left guard but did not start a single game last season when he served as the top backup at center.

Deiter played his college ball at Wisconsin, a school that is known for producing NFL offensive linemen. At Wisconsin, Deiter showed versatility, starting at multiple positions on the offensive line. Deiter is no stranger to the center position, as he started 16 games there in college.

Deiter getting first-team reps may have come as a surprise, but it is clear Miami felt strongly about him. If you did not know, Deiter is a former second-team All-American and was a first-team All-Big Ten selection his senior season.
