MICHAEL McEWAN says that having a disability is no barrier to taking part in and enjoying football…
I LOVE the beautiful game called football. I have a disability, cerebralpalsy, but that does not stop me in anyway.
I enjoyed playing and now get a buzz out of coaching and watching the game.
I attended a disability school in the East End of Glasgow where they didn't have a football team, so I decided to set one up. I had a meeting with the head teacher about starting one and she agreed it was a good idea.
I circulated details about my plans for a team round the school. Soon we started training on a Monday lunchtime and we played our matches in the afternoon.
When I left school I still went back one day a week to volunteer, and the school put me through my football coaching course.
