Very often, it is the little things that make an occasion special…
We were celebrating my youngest brother's fiftieth birthday last week in Kolkata. I have four older brothers, and Sujit is the youngest among them. We both were the naughtiest of all the siblings, always up to some mischief or the other. When we fought with each other, no one would dare to come in between us. These fights were not verbal fights but physical ones where we literally bashed each other up. Although Sujit was four years older than me, we behaved as if we were twins. As a matter of fact, in our younger years we almost looked alike – we were the same height and shape. Maa used to make me wear his clothes and very often I was mistaken as him.
Although I am talking about our childhood tiffs, it is only to reiterate the underlying love we share for each other. Whenever someone complained about either of us, we were immediately there to defend the other. That was our LOVE!
As we were celebrating his fiftieth birthday, my eyes welled up with tears, thanking God to have blessed me to be his sister. He had taught me so much, thanks to all the little fights, I learnt patience, tolerance, endurance, strength, happiness and above all, LOVE.
