Can a rich person with poor health enjoy the pleasure of being wealthy?
I went to meet my aunt and discovered that she was suffering from back pain again. The last time it had occurred, the doctor had recommended that my aunt go for two months of regular physiotherapy sessions but as she felt better within a month of the sessions, she stopped the treatment. She reasoned that she didn't find it necessary to undergo the whole course of the treatment and pay so much for an entire month when she was already feeling better. But, instead of getting better, this 'cost-saving' on health had actually ended up costing her more.
Similarly, my friend's dad, who is very well-off, was recommended at least two servings of fruits and three servings of vegetables per day by a doctor for some gastric ailment he was affected with. So, he took the recommended servings advised for a day or two to see what it was like but then decided that he did not want to spend so much on buying fruits and vegetables as the ailment had improved and wasn't so drastic. Consequently, he went back to his usual eating habits. As a result, the problem worsened in a week's time.
