Love Island star Faye Winter is no stranger to a challenge, but she’s about to face her biggest one yet. The 28-year-old, who starred on the ITV dating show in 2021, is taking on a five-day trek next month in the Brecon Beacons, alongside Giovanna Fletcher, in support of breast cancer charity, CoppaFeel!
Giovanna will lead more than 100 supporters undertaking the extraordinary hike across 100km. Starting on 8 June, the trekkers will tackle some of the toughest sections of the mountainous region. The challenge is to raise awareness around breast cancer – the most common cancer in the UK – affecting one in seven women in their lifetime and around 400 men a year.
And Faye is clearly delighted to be teaming up with author and podcaster Giovanna, who she calls “inspirational”. “I’m so excited to be able to meet her and to do this alongside her. I think she’s an incredible woman – it’s one of those ‘pinch me’ moments,” Faye tells new.
While she’s no stranger to leisurely daily strolls with Bonnie, her golden retriever, the gruelling hike will see Faye walking seven to 10 hours a day.
However, she’s overcome her own personal obstacles since leaving the Love Island villa, which she feels has made her highly adaptable.
“I do like to push myself,” she says. “Since coming out of Love Island and being in this whole world, it’s all about challenges. I’ve really had to learn how to adapt. Sometimes you get so comfortable in your comfort zone, but that’s not where change happens. I know the hike is going to be difficult, but I’m super excited about it.”
