Olivia Attwood has been steadily carving out a name for herself with her boundary-pushing documentaries. In the latest series of her ITV2 show, Olivia Attwood: Getting Filthy Rich, the former Love Island finalist once again takes us deep into the world of adult content creators.
From exploring the lives of 'giantesses' to uncovering the lucrative arena of MILFs and GILFs (yes, that's mothers and grandmothers making erotic content), Olivia, 33, leaves no stone unturned. The series has some jaw-dropping moments, but does Olivia think it's harder for her to be shocked these days, given all that she's seen?
“I naively always go into filming thinking, ‘I’ve seen so much, like, am I even really shocked any more? And every day, it’s a shock and it’s a learning curve,” she says, laughing. “We have someone who’s nearly 70, was a devout Christian for most of her life and did not live a liberated sexual existence. Then she found this sex work avenue late in life - it’s fascinating.”
The series dives into the more niche areas of the adult industry, from cosplay to financial domination. “One thing that I found insane watching is people who are obsessed with food - mashing it all over themselves, getting in a paddling pool with cake, making a big mess,” says Olivia. “It’s a sexual fetish. They squelch their feet in there. I’m like, ‘God, this is hard to watch.’ I hate a mess.”
Olivia’s move from Love Island contestant to documentary maker hasn’t been without its challenges. Bursting onto the scene in the 2017 series of Love Island, she quickly cemented herself as a fan favourite and came third with her then-partner Chris Hughes, who she dated for seven months after the show. She’s aware of the stigma attached to reality TV stars trying to forge careers in the entertainment industry.
