If there ever was an actor who got the quintessential Bollywood experience, it’s Wamiqa Gabbi. She had that lifelong dream of being an actor and receiving the love and adulation that we so reverentially reserve for the film fraternity. Like many others, she too packed her bags and set out to the City of Dreams to achieve a reality that is known to smile only at a few. And just like that, she found herself in the middle of a rat race, the romanticised beauty of Mumbai quickly fading. “A lot of people shift to Mumbai every day, with dreams of making it and thinking that they’re special and the city will accept them. But it was only when I got here that I got a reality check about the number of people who had probably moved to the city the same day to achieve exactly my dream,” she reminisces, as she gets ready in her make-up chair.
