"If I look back 10 years, I do think there has been a deepening of intimacy with my instrument over time. I feel more able to express myself and my emotions through my sitar. And that is really freeing in a live context and in a studio, composition context," shares Anoushka Shankar. The sitarist, producer, and composer has been reflecting on a lot as she gears up for the India leg of her tour, following the release of the first in a trilogy of mini-albums, Chapter 1: Forever, For Now. She has been touring in the US and Canada quite intensively the past couple of months, and expresses excitement at bringing some of her new music to live audiences in India. Her sense of gratitude in being able to perform live has only deepened after not being able to do so during the pandemic, and gratitude also informs the emotional contours of Chapter I: Forever, For Now.
