It's summertime, and the warmth and carefree attitude of the season amplify our emotions, making us feel more alive, adventurous, and even unpredictable. It's the season of passion, but also of heartbreak-unless, of course, you decide to embark on an affair with no strings attached.
Perhaps, this is why people engage in summer flings. With no expectations and commitment, people enter this kind of romantic endeavor thinking that they have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
But is that what happens often? And do these fleeting relationships really have no chance of evolving into long-term ones? We spoke to adventure-seeking individuals, who bare their experiences with summer flings.
Doms Leones, 30, met his fling during his summer vacation in 2012. "We used to have summer outings in the student organization I was part of," he recalls. "I was a senior officer and he was an incoming recruit."
It was a blissful short-lived moment for Leones because after the season changed, so did their romance: "Summer ended, he went back to the regular programming of his life, so did I. It was a mutually decided end, but I found out a few months after that I wasn't the only summer fling at the time. So I'm glad it ended at that."
Leones says when he engages in summer flings, he treats it as typical dating, but the difference is that in such feats, he never wears his heart on his sleeve.
