DISCOVER THE HOUSEPLANTS THAT CAN REDUCE AIRBORNE PATHOGENS LIKE BACTERIA AND MOULD
Purifying plants

It's fairly well known that some houseplants purify indoor air. In fact, a study by the University of Birmingham* revealed that in some conditions, introducing five houseplants to a small, poorly ventilated room could reduce nitrogen dioxide - a common pollutant - by as much as 20%.

Plants with large leaves absorb more carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the atmosphere, while moderating humidity levels in your home to help lower levels of pathogens such as fungal spores, bacteria and viruses. Furthermore, plants can help to improve mental health and boost immunity levels while adding natural decoration, too.

So if you'd like to choose houseplants that reduce airborne pollutants, read on...

PEACE LILY

(SPATHIPHYLLUM WALLISII)

Deservedly popular, the peace lily may help to keep bacteria and mould spores at bay and it has been shown to absorb small quantities of benzene, a harmful VOC used in many industries and found in car exhaust fumes. Ideal for beginners, this compact plant produces glossy dark green leaves and long-lasting white tear-shaped flowerheads, which emerge in spring.
