IF YOU HAVE BEEN following the smartwatch market this year, you’ve probably noticed a downward trend. According to international market research firm Counterpoint, global smartwatch shipments declined nine per cent year-over-year in Q2 2024. In India, shipments dropped for the first time in history, driven by inventory pile-up and a slow replacement cycle. Further, High-Level Operating System (HLOS) smartwatch shipments fell 16 per cent year-over-year in North America.
Comparatively, Garmin’s growth in the same period was 11 percent.
